Life Foundations

Life Foundations is a non-profit organization (501 {c}{3}) which trains lifeguards and pool operators. All instructors are American Red Cross certified. Life Foundations has been training since 1989.

Lifeguard Training

Lifeguards trained by Life Foundation are trained to prevent aquatic injuries and to react in all emergency situations. Lifeguards are required to keep their certifications current. All lifeguards are trained by American Red Cross certified instructors. In order to take the class you must be fifteen years of age and meet the minimum requirements listed below.

1.) Be able to swim 500 yards.

2.) Tread water for two minutes.

3.) Retrieve a brick from 9 feet of water.

CPR and Training

All lifeguards will be trained in CPR. We teach the following CPR certifications: Adult CPR, Infant and Child CPR, Community CPR, Community First Aid and Safety, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Courses in AED training is also offered. Certification will be from the American Red Cross.

Standard First Aid Training

We also provide Standard First Aid training to all of our participants. The first aid training fulfills all county Health Departments requirements. Certification will be from the American Red Cross.

OSHA/HazMat Training

We are strictly committed to following and enforcing all the rules and regulations that are set for by OSHA for the swimming pool industry. In deep detail on procedures for handling first aid incidents and regulations for safety requirements for dealing with Blood Borne Pathogens.

Pool Operator Training

Pool Operator training consists of facility safety, pool physical characteristics, filtrations, water balance, disinfection, pool chemistry, and water testing. The student will learn the information in order for them to take the test. We do not provide the Fairfax County Pool Operator Test.
